The Zambian Civil Aviation Authority has issued confirmation to Fastjet Zambia Ltd informing them of the successful completion of phase 1 of their application for an air operating certificate (AOC).
According to Ed Winter, interim chairman and chief executive of Fastjet, this progress marks an important step in moving towards the launch of their operations in Zambia.
“The process to obtain permission to operate in Zambia is proceeding extremely well,” he said, “We look forward to bringing the high quality and low-cost Fastjet operation to the people of Zambia soon.”
The next steps in the AOC process will be to complete the evaluation of the airline’s company structure, examine and understand the Airbus aircraft and issue approval of the airline’s operational plan in Zambia.
Fasjet currently operates out of Tanzania and is working to make Zambia its second base of operations for low-cost flights to a number of destinations in East and Southern Africa.
