USD 3 Million Chinese Investment Opens Hotel In Kitwe, Zambia


A new Oriental Swan Hotel worth USD 3 million has been officially open on April 15, 2015 in Kitwe, Zambia.

Kitwe is the second largest city in terms of size and population in Zambia, with 504,194 and one of the most developed commercial and industrial areas in the country.

The city owes its existence to the copper mining industry but a considerable number of secondary industries have been established.

According to Zambia tourism minister who officiated the inauguration of the hotel, Ms. Arts Jean Kapata, private investments like these in the hospitality industry clearly indicates conducive and competitive business environment in the country.

Oriental Swan Hotels Director General Mr. Xuan Yabiao confirmed that the political stability and investment friendly climate of Zambia made the group confident to invest in the hospitality sector.

Oriental Swan Hotel has invested more than USD 60 million in the hotel industry of Zambia so far including a three star hotel, Oriental Swan in Livingstone last year.

There has been a total of USD 2.6 billion investment from China in various industries of Zambia, employing about 50,000 locals.
