Vodafone Group Plc (LSE:VOD) has recently launched its new brand “Vodafone Zambia” to exclusively offer 4G LTE services across the country.

Vodafone Partner Markets, as are called all operations where the company entered with a strategic alliance with local operators, partnered with Afrimax Group to launch the new brand.

Afrimax was already providing the service in Zambia and other several countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).

In addition, the agreement between both companies establishes the opening of Vodafone branded retail shops across the country and kiosks in key locations.

A network of distributors and resellers will support the partnership by offering 4G handsets and devices, Vodafone Market Partners announced.

Vodafone Partner Markets is glad to count with Zambia within its community since it helps Vodacom and Afrimax to jump to the next stage in the agreement signed in 2014, Vodafone Partner Markets CEO Stefano Gastaut said.

Vodacom is the African mobile communications company in charge of operating the Vodafone brand across the continent with a current presence in 40 countries.

On November 18th 2014 Afrimax signed an agreement with Vodafone Partner Markets to complement Vodacom operations in South Africa, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Lesotho, and Mozambique.

Vodafone Partner Markets and Afrimax also announced another agreement to add Uganda to the community with its new member Zambia.

Lars Stork, a Danish Executive in Vodafone with high experience in the Telecom Industry through 15 countries around the world, has been appointed CEO of Vodafone Zambia.

The current agreement strengths Afrimax efforts to build the largest 4G wireless broadband network in SSA covering 12 countries and 222 million people according to same sources.

Zamtel, Airtel and MTN are the other licensed mobile operators in Zambia and all of them are currently operating 4G networks in different regions of the country.
