The Zambia Development Agency has partnered with the brokerage team, Pangaea Securities, to host an international Zambia Investment conference in December 4th-5th 2014.

With investments in Zambia primarily focused on the country’s mining sector, the Government of Zambia has emphasized the importance of diversifying into non-traditional sectors and is eager to participate in the investment conference that is expected to attract more than 300 local and foreign attendees.

According to Caesar Siwale, Chief Executive of Pangaea Securities, opportunities for investment are growing in sectors including consumer goods, telecommunications, media, technology, logistics, distribution, infrastructure, construction and agri-processing.

“There is an increasing awareness of the opportunities outside of the mining sector and this is something that could be the catalyst for the transformation of our economy from its reliance on mining to a diversified sector that not only attracts foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows but creates employment opportunities,” he said.

The two-day conference will seek to display the numerous investment opportunities in Zambia for both local and foreign businesses.

Speakers at the conference will include Sylvia Banda, President of Pan-African AWEP; Carl-Heinrich Bruhn, Founder and CEO of Amatheon Agri; and Brian Tembo, CEO of the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE).

It has been announced that the key note address will be given by businessman and investor Sir Richard Branson founder and Chairman of Virgin Group, which comprises more than 400 companies.
