Zambia Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Harry Kalaba traveled to Turkey to meet with the Turkey Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hon. Ahmet Davutoğlu to discuss bilateral relations as well as opportunities in the Zambia trade, mining, tourism and agriculture sectors.
During the historic meeting, which marked the first official visit from Zambia to Turkey for the Foreign Minister, the legal framework of bilateral relations was discussed along with the next steps for both countries.
According to Hon. Davutoğlu the strategic partnership with Zambia falls under the framework of Turkey’s Strategic Partnership with Africa and praised Zambia for its stability and leadership within the region.
“Since the independence period of the African states, Zambia has been the center of political stability and democracy and a source of inspiration for whole Africa,” he stated in a joint press conference.
The Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs went on to indicate his country’s commitment to taking advantage of the opportunities that exist in numerous Zambia economic sectors including trade, mining, tourism, and agriculture.
