Zambia Annual Inflation Rate For February 2015 Decreases To 7.4%

According to the February 2015 Monthly Bulletin released by the Zambian Central Statistical Office (CSO), the country’s annual inflation rate decreased from7.7% in January 2015 to 7.4% in February 2015.

The 7.4% refers to the Zambia Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures changes over time in the general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption, with reference to the price level in 2009 (base year 2009 =100).

Between February 2014 and February 2015, the annual rate of inflation increased for Food and Non Alcoholic beverages ; Clothing and footwear; Furnishing Household Equipment; Routine House Maintenance ; Health; Communication ; Recreation and culture ; Restaurant and hotel; and Miscellaneous Goods and Services.

The annual rate of inflation decreased for Alcoholic beverages and Tobacco; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other fuels; Transport; and Education.

The annual food inflation rate for February 2015 was recorded at 7.6% compared to 7.4% recorded in January 2015. 

The annual non -food inflation rate for February 2015 decreased to 7.3% from 8.0% recorded in January 2015

Zambia Monthly Inflation Rate

The monthly inflation rate for February 2015 was recorded at 0.3% compared to 0.7% recorded in January, 2015. 

The monthly food inflation rate for February 2015 was recorded at 0.8% compared to 0.7% recorded in January, 2015; while the monthly non-food inflation rate for February, 2015 was recorded at -0.3% compared to 0.7% recorded i n January, 2015.
