A delegation of 16 farmers and agricultural experts from Argentina and Uruguay visited Zambeef Products Plc as a part of a larger 35-man delegation that was invited by Zambia National Farmers Union to explore investment opportunities in the growing Zambia agriculture sector.

Prior to their arrival in Zambia, the farming delegation visited agricultural projects in South Africa as part of a wider tour to learn what both countries are doing to develop and enhance their respective agriculture sectors.

“Zambia is the future of agriculture in Africa and the potential of Zambia is important for the world,” said Enrique Erize, leader of the South American delegation.

The South American farmers, who produce a variety of crops including wheat, soybeans and maize, were reportedly interested in exploring the Zambeef meat processing plan, feedlot and cropping operations to learn more about the operating practices from the largest producer of wheat and soybeans in Zambia.

According to Huntley Farm General Manager, Francis Mondomona, Zambia is the only country in the region with a surplus of wheat surplus, and Zambeef Products Plc is the largest integrated agribusinesses in Zambia.

In addition to producing, processing, distributing and retailing beef, chicken, pork, milk, dairy products, eggs, edible oils, stock feed, flour and bread, Zambeef also maintains nearly 8,350 hectares of row crops under irrigation and 17,000 hectares of rain-fed and dry-land crops every year.
