The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) in conjunction with the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) organised a business forum whose theme is “prosperity through business reforms and linkages.”

The forum was aimed at creating business linkages between local and foreign enterprises and also linkages among the local enterprises in Zambi, in line with the theme for this year’s Zambia International Trade Fair.

The forum provided an opportunity for government to interact and exchange views with the business community and a platform for the creation of networks among the business community, regulators, service providers and the government.

A number of issues were discussed including Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Zambia and some of the related challenges.

Speaking at the forum, Zambia’s minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry Mrs Margaret Mwanakatwe assured investors that government is willing to work with the private sector in various developmental projects around the country in PPPs.

The Director General of the ZDA Interview with Patrick Chisanga assured investors that ZDA on behalf of government is able to guarantee an investment through the signing of an Investment Promotion Protection Agreement (IPPA) that protects an investment from nationalisation.

Also present at the forum was the Chief Executive Officer of Lusaka’s South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) Dr. Fortune Kamusaki, who reminded the many benefits of investing in the multi facility economic zones which include zero percent import duty rate on capital goods, machinery and equipment for five years (applicable to both developer & operator).
